ViaLift for First Baptist Church - Madison, MS
April 04, 2008
I. Weiss collaborated with TLS Inc. to supply and install a 24’ ViaLift at First Baptist Church in Madison, MS.
The ViaLift was installed behind one of the building’s horizontal beams above the balcony seating area in an effort to hide the hoist when flown out to a storage position, and will be used to hold additional lighting units for special events.
For this purpose the self-climbing hoist was equipped with two (8) x 20 amp circuits ETC raceways, and a wall-mounted control station.
To make it “disappear” this lift was painted white to match the walls and ceiling. Required vertical travel was 20'.

NY Auto Show - Jacob Javits Center
March 24, 2008
I Weiss was contracted to execute the rigging installation of a large tent for a press conference held in the Jacob Javits Center entrance lobby at the 2008 New York Auto Show. The lobby is a truss and glass structure, so the building engineers would only allow minimum point loading across the ceiling. Yet the client wanted straight lines to create an 80' w x 60' h fabric pyramid. I. Weiss engineered a solution within four days with all the necessary toolage and hardware and installed the structure within the allowed 8 hour window.

Printed House Curtain for Balboa Theater
January 01, 2008
I. Weiss was contracted by the Centre City Development Corporation to fabricate and install a printed house curtain for the Historic Balboa Theater in San Diego. The Balboa Theater, which originally opened in 1924 and was used as a movie theater for many years was being restored to its former glory. As the original house curtain no longer existed we were working with the architect Westlake Reed Leskosky to recreate the colors and design of the original piece as closely as possible from black and white photographs and historical records .
