Color Filters

This specialized filter incorporates an advanced coating which reflects infrared energy. When used in conjunction with color filters, Thermashield pervents the color filters from absorbing IR energy as heat, thus allowing the filters to last much longer. Thermashield is extremely effective in protecting color filters from light sources that are IR rich. The 7 mil. poyester base limits its use to fixtures of 1000 Watts or less (1250 watts at 240V). It is not suited for extremely hot light sources such as Xenon or HMI. Users should be carefule to follow the package instructions and install Thermashield with the reflective coating towards the lamp.

Rosco's Super Heat Shield Filter deflects heat from the color filter, minimizing the effects of high temperatures. Properly used, it increases the life of color filters in very hot fixtures without reducing light transmission.

Super Heat Shield deflects convected heat due to an extremely heat stable polymer base and properties inherent in its resin. Super Heat Shield is generally used to protect color filters in long range applications, especially when using dark colors such as blues and greens.

Super Heat Shield should be positioned between the lens and the color filter, allowing space on each side of the filter for the escape of heated air. Extenders which allow at least 1/2" of air space on each side of the Super Heat Shield will permit adequate venting and insure the longevity of the Super Heat Shield filter.

The UV Filter effectively extends the life of your color filter, by absorbing the damaging ultraviolet energy that can prematurely fade dyes. While it is not possible to determine the length of time a filter will last without fading, using the UV Filter will extend the life of unprotected gel by three times or better. This is especially usefult with T5 and T8 fluorescent lamps. It is also beneficial when UV rays will have a damaging effect on objects under illumination (textiles, paper fibers, plastic etc.).

The UV Filter is a virtually transparent filter, specially coated to absorb ultraviolet rays. The material allows less than 10% transmission below 390 nanometers. NOTE: A black light filter passes UV. Rosco's filter absorbs UV.

A replacement for hazardous metal color frames falling from the grid. Made from FRP, an Underwriter's Laboratories approved flame retardant fiberboard. The material remains cool for safe handling and has a UL94 Flammability Classification of 94V-0. For use with Roscolux, Cinegel, or E-Colour gel filters.
