Applications for muslin are virtually unlimited. It is used for opaque and translucent painted backdrops, for bounce drops and sky drops. It is available in many widths, FR and NFR.
Most scenic artists like to work with non-flame retardant muslin as it is easier to paint. It can be flameproofed either by adding a flameproofing chemical to the paint or by spraying it with a chemical after the scenic work is completed.
I. Weiss does not recommend FR Muslin for painted drops and cannot assume responsibility for any problems that may occur in the painting process, such as staining or color alteration.
